Racquel TibbettsRacquel H. Tibbetts, PhD, successfully defended her dissertation in December 2015 titled: “Examining how health and financial resources relate to stress.”

Health and financial resources may be two of the most important resources when individuals experience stress. As one of the most commonly cited theories in the organizational behavior literature over the last 25 years (Halbeslegen, Paustian-Underdahl and Westman, 2014), the Conservation of Resources (COR) theory was used in this dissertation to view how health and financial resources relate to general life and financial stress.

Achievements, activities and publications

Achievements

Ann Coulson, PhD, CFP®, assistant professor, received an award in March from K-State Provost April Mason for her long-standing service to the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance, GPIDEA, and outstanding efforts in tracking student assessment in the family financial planning master’s degree program.

Stuart Heckman, PhD, CFP®, assistant professor, was a recipient of the Best Applied Research Award at the Financial Planning Association’s Annual Conference last September in Boston, Massachusetts, for his research presentation “Financial catastrophes due to disability: which households are most at risk?”

Ronald Sages, AEP®, CFP®, CTFA, EA, PhD, assistant professor, received the Faculty Excellence Award through the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance, GPIDEA, for his contribution to the Case Studies course for graduate students in the Personal Financial Planning CFP® certificate program.

PhD students from the 2014, 2015 and 2016 cohorts will congregate in Manhattan, Kansas, August 1-11, for their annual two-week session.

PFP is holding a Practice-Oriented Research Poster Forum and Reception Thursday, August 4. Sponsors are welcome.

The College of Human Ecology is sponsoring three “White Tent” hospitality events at K-State home football games this season. Come find us two hours before kickoff in Cat Town at the Florida Atlantic game Sept. 17, the Texas game Oct. 22 and the Oklahoma State game Nov. 5.
