The Graduate School, in partnership with Graduate Student Council (GSC), hosted the first GSC Alumni Reunion July 14-16. The Reunion brought graduate students who served as committee and executive leaders of the GSC while they were graduate students at K-State back to the Manhattan campus. The Reunion gave the attendees an opportunity to experience how the university campus has changed since they were students and to participate in networking events that reconnected classmates, colleagues, faculty, current GSC leaders and K-State administrators.

The Graduate School celebrated the spring 2017 graduating class by awarding 80 doctoral, 2 masters of fine arts and over 500 master’s degrees at the spring 2017 commencement ceremony on Friday, May 12 at 1 p.m. in Bramlage Coliseum. During the ceremony, the honorary doctorate degree was awarded to Geraldine “Geri” Richmond, professor of chemistry at the University of Oregon. Dr. Richmond also presented the commencement address to the graduating class.

‘Living With Tooflady,’ a master’s exhibition by Thea Meussling

Thea Meussling, a third-year graduate candidate in the art department, referred to by some as “Tooflady”, presented her master’s exhibition Living with Tooflady this spring 2017 semester. Meussling’s research is unlike any other type of graduate research; she lived in the Mark A. Chapman Gallery, inside Willard Hall, for two weeks starting March 8 as a part of a master of fine arts exhibition. During her stay at the gallery, Meussling performed live as Tooflady without breaking character.
