Staff Spotlight: Vanetta Geiger

Rural northeast Kansas has always been home to Vanetta Geiger, the Student Services Coordinator and Academic Advisor for the Department of Hospitality Management.   


Vanetta attended Highland Community College receiving an associate’s degree, before attending Kansas State University in the College of Human Ecology, receiving a bachelordegree in Apparel Design. Vanetta returned to college, after some time away, to complete a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership, from Fort Hays State University. 

Vanetta’s career started over 25 years ago at Highland Community College, where she worked in admissions, coaching dance and cheer teams, teaching and advising. Her most recent stint was at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, where she served as the academic advisor for the Biochemistry & Biophysics department.  Vanetta is so excited to be back in Kansas and working at K-State in the Department of Hospitality Management! 

When she’s not in Justin Hall, room 152, Vanetta resides on a farm in rural Denton, KS, with her husband Matt, of 38 yearsThey raise corn and soybeans, along with their two sons, who help in the farming operation.  Both are K-State grads.  Vanetta and Matt feel blessed to live close to both families and are delighted to have four grandchildren. Some of her interests are sewing, yard work, cooking, entertaining, riding the Harley, K-State Football, and being with family.
