Internship Setting: Lafene Health Center Rehab Services

Hometown: Hayden, Alabama

Future Plans: Physical Therapist

Why did you choose this internship?

I chose to do an internship to get more hands on experience outside of the classroom and to be able to apply daily what I learn in my Kinesiology classes. This has enhanced my college educational experience.

What was your favorite part of your internship?

Seeing the improvement of patients and the joy they (patients) get from returning to full mobility, strength, and function.

What advice would you give to other students looking at internships?

Internships are a great option if you are looking to extend your learning outside of the classroom. Interning at Lafene has been an invaluable experience for me. It has allowed me to get an insider perspective on my desired occupation that I wouldn’t get solely from classwork.

What is the biggest takeaway you got from completing your internship?

In my time interning, I have gained many skills and insight. It is hard to say what the biggest takeaway was, but if I had to choose one, it would be the understanding I gained of what a day in the life of a physical therapist is. It is one thing as an undergrad that I would not have experienced without the internship. It has reassured me that I am on the right career path.
