Welcome to the Department of Landscape Architecture | Regional & Community Planning’s first alumni and friends e-newsletter issue. With over 1,572 alumni around the world, our goal is to provide an outlet for you to see department updates and stay in touch. I look forward to introducing you to the many new faculty who have joined us over the last few years and sharing the excellent work of our faculty, staff and students.

The department continues our commitment to be a catalyst for excellence in our professions, our communities and the academy. As 2013 comes to a close, we are eager to share with you the national recognition, inspiring travel and special events that shaped our year. Looking forward, be sure that November 7-8, 2014 is on your calendar to celebrate our #2 nationally ranked Landscape Architecture program’s 50th anniversary. You’ll find more information in the newsletter on how you can participate in Manhattan and from afar.

Landscape Architecture program is excited to invite alumni back for our 50th Anniversary Celebration: Catalyst for Excellence Nov. 7-8, 2014. There will be two days of events in celebration of the program’s history, alumni, faculty and students. The celebration will begin on Friday evening with a dinner at the K-State Alumni Center and continue on Saturday with time for you to visit Seaton Hall, get reacquainted with former classmates and reminisce about your time at K-State. We are collecting information about alumni accomplishments and memories to help us tell the story of the landscape architecture program, through maps, images and text in print and digital media. Your help is needed! Please:

  • Take our Alumni Survey – Click here to take the survey and share where you’ve been and what you remember most about your K-State experience.
  • Submit photos of your “K-State Experience” – The department is assembling a collection of images illustrating the studio experience across the decades. We need your help in gathering photos of field trips, studio life, study abroad, internship, and of the campus and town from when you were a student. Click here to learn more.

Our 50th Anniversary Celebration webpage page will connect you to details about the event,  registration and accommodations.  Some information is available now, more will be available in March 2014 and you may follow us on Twitter at @KStateLARCP for updates. We look forward to seeing you in November 2014!
