Deadline to Complete 2014-2015 Housing Contracts Extended

Students who wish to return to on-campus housing for the 2014-2015 school year but did not meet the March 1 deadline for completing the contract are in luck! Housing and Dining Services has a limited number of additional spaces available in the residence halls or the Living Community at Jardine Apartments. Please contact the Housing and Dining Services office at 785-532-6453 for additional information. This will be a first-come, first-served opportunity and spaces are limited.

Residence Hall Closing for Summer Break, Contracts Available

This is just a reminder that all K-State residence halls close May 17. All students must vacate their rooms within 24 hours of their last final or by 1 p.m. May 17 (whichever time occurs first). Please plan accordingly. Students are advised to follow the checkout guidelines provided by their residence assistants.

Students who are taking classes this summer and need a place to live may now complete a summer housing application. There is no fee to apply. Accommodations will be in the Jardine Apartments. When your application is received, a contract will be mailed to the address provided. Call the Housing and Dining Services office at 785-532-6453 for more information.

Severe Storm Policies in the Residence Halls

The city of Manhattan and Riley County have implemented a system of storm warnings to assist citizens in using safety precautions should a tornado occur. Below are suggested procedures to follow if a storm is approaching.

Residents may tune to local radio and television stations for updated weather information, such as: B104.7 FM Country, 94.5 Country FM, 1350 AM News Talk, Sunny 102.5 FM and 101.5 K-Rock.

Residents must be aware of developing storm situations so they are not taken by surprise. When a storm watch is issued, residents should mentally rehearse a plan of action to take if the warning sirens sound.

It is advisable all residents have a battery-powered portable radio and a flashlight. Storms occur at night as well as during the daytime.

The all clear comes from 1350 KMAN and 91.5 KMKF – FM radio stations in Manhattan. No one should leave shelters or premises until an all clear from these stations is given. A second blast of the siren indicates another storm has been sighted — it is not an all clear signal.
