Four graduate students will be traveling to San Antonio to present research at the 2016 Southern Association of Agricultural Scientists (SAAS) regional convention.
Students will present a professional development session, research poster and research paper at the convention on February 5-9.

Thoughts on theory: A discussion on the theories and models used in the Journal of Applied Communications – Audrey Holderness will lead this professional development session on utilizing theory in academic and applied writing and practice. The session will focus on the role and importance of theory in agricultural communications as well as ways to further increase the theoretical vigor within the field.
Does anyone even care? An assessment of a semi-annual college publication – Gina Nixon will present research findings in a poster session on audience preferences for connecting with the College of Agriculture through a college funded, semi-annual magazine publication. While a printed version is still the preferred format, strong positive indications for an electronic version were also discovered. Nixon will outline the possible implications for university communications in the future.
Communicating Climate Change: A Qualitative Study Exploring how Communicators and Educators are Approaching Climate Change Discussions – Katie Rohling and Cassie Wandersee will present their paper exploring how education and communication professionals involved in climate-change communication are framing the discussion of climate change with agricultural producers. Recommendations for practitioners and future research will be provided in the presentation.
