A note from the Dean’s Office

dorhout_deanswelcomeSummer, summer, summertime
Time to sit back and unwind

Now the routine of the term is comin’ to an end
Just a bit of a break from the regular trend.
Here’s something to break up the semester monotony
Of all that hardcore teaching, so the Spring has gotten to be
A little bit out of control, it’s cool to kick back
And do some family things, maybe research, games like tic tac
Toe, in the cool water, splash around the dock
Maybe sit and read for fun, collect your thoughts, even take stock
And reflect on the summers past,
Turn up the music, let the rhythms blast.
So with a pen and pad, I abused this rhyme
Of Will Smith’s 90’s rap to get you thinking bout summertime.

Summer, summer, summertime
Time to sit back and unwind

Thank you for all you’ve done for our students and your programs this academic year. As you head out to engage in all those things you do over the summer, please be healthy, travel safely, and enjoy your summertime. If you are celebrating a graduation in the college or graduate school, congratulations! You make a difference in the lives of our students; you help prepare them to go out and change the world. You have given them all a gift of your talent. Be happy in what you have accomplished.

Peter

A note from the Dean’s Office

dorhout_deanswelcomeDear Faculty Colleagues,

We have turned the corner on another semester and are heading towards another record graduation day. Our students’ successes are attributable to all the great things you have done with them – they are your successes, too. We have a lot to celebrate!

I get the feeling, however, that we are all suffering from a bit of cabin fever. While searching the Chronicle for articles on how to approach some sticky situations, I ran across a great Op-Ed by Dean Paula Krebs at Bridgewater State Univ., in Bridgewater, MA. (https://chroniclevitae.com/news/974-everyone-is-cranky-lately) She brilliantly described an event in my day last week – if you ever wondered Continue reading “A note from the Dean’s Office”
