Category: September 2014

A message from the Dean’s Office

Welcome to the first issue of A&S Matters, the student newsletter for the College of Arts & Sciences. We hope you will find this to be a helpful resource. The goal of this newsletter is to provide you, our ArtSci students, with helpful information aimed to enhance your college career.

We know how overwhelming email can become, so we will not overload your inbox. Our newsletter will only be distributed once per month. Here’s a list of things you can expect from this newsletter:

  • Opportunities and announcements you should know about
  • College calendar
  • Diversity issues
  • Student & faculty spotlights

In this issue, you will find information about the K-State Career Fair and our Family Day plans. The next newsletter will come out on Oct. 7, but if you have any suggestions about this newsletter and its contents, please feel free to email artsci@k-state.edu. We strive to be relevant and welcome your comments!

Thank you, and have a great September!

K-State Career Fair, Sept. 23-24

Whether you are a freshman or senior, the K-State Career Fair is something we encourage all students to take part in. With over 250 employers in attendance, offering career, internship and co-op positions, this is an opportunity to interact with businesses and find out what they’re looking for.

K-State Career and Employment Services does a great job of organizing this two-day event and even provides shuttles from the Student Union to Bramlage Coliseum, where the event is held. For more information, including times, a list of employers and helpful tips on what to expect, click here to visit their website.

College of Arts & Sciences Family Day, Sept. 27, 9-11 a.m.

All students in the College of Arts & Sciences are invited to meet the Dean and tailgate with the ArtSci family this Saturday!

Students and family members will have the opportunity to meet Dean Peter Dorhout while enjoying breakfast, catered by local favorite Cox Bros BBQ, and the unmatched atmosphere of a K-State football tailgate in Cat Town, USA, beginning two hours prior to kickoff, from 9 – 11 a.m.

If your family is in town this weekend for Family Day, this is a fun, hassle-free way to have some fun before the game together. We hope to see you there!

Cost: $15.00 per person.
