Conservation biology student’s field mouse research gives clues about Kansas ecosystem changes and how they could impact human health
After attending community college for a while, Sam Speck transferred to K-State and enrolled in the conservation biology program. That first semester, he took a mammalogy course with Dr. Andrew Hope and was enthralled by all the research opportunities Hope mentioned.
Since then, Speck has worked for the Kansas State Biorepository and gotten involved in several research projects at the Konza Prairie.
Speck recently received an undergraduate honorarium from the American Society of Mammalogists.
