The 25th Annual KSU Beef Stocker Field Day took place on September 26, 2024, drawing more than 250 attendees. The event covered a wide range of topics, including the beef cattle market outlook, managing coccidiosis—often referred to as the “silent thief” robbing stocker operations of profits, recommendations for managing calves during their first 30 days on feed, emerging trends in the Kansas cattle feeding industry, and innovative strategies for pasture burning to save time, money, and improve range conditions. A producer panel also discussed the opportunities and challenges of incorporating beef into dairy operations. Attendees enjoyed a BBQ lunch, and the day wrapped up with the traditional prairie oyster feed and Call Hall ice cream.
