Meat Judging Team co-CHAMPIONS of the Southwestern Contest

Congratulations to the 2024 K-State Meat Judging Team, who following review of the contest results, were officially named as co-CHAMPIONS of the Southwestern Meat Judging Contest hosted this past weekend in Ft. Worth, Texas. The team had an excellent day, posting an impressive 4,231 overall team score. The team’s performance was anchored by a 20 point division win in beef grading. The team finished:

2024 CATTLE INDUSTRY CONVENTION & NCBA TRADE SHOW: The 2024 Cattle Industry Convention & NCBA Trade Show was in Orlando, Florida, Jan. 31 to Feb. 2. The Department of Animal Sciences and Industry had a booth in cooperation with K-State Master of Agribusiness, Kansas Department of Agriculture, Beef Improvement Federation, U.S. CattleTrace and Beef Cattle Institute.

K-State Livestock Judging Team Kicks Off Year in OKC, Denver

The Kansas State University Livestock Judging Team kicked off 2024 with contests at Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City and the National Western Stock Show in Denver.

Results include:

National Western Stock Show (Denver, CO; 1/11/24)
Champion Team Overall, Carload Contest
Team members include: Logan Buhrman (3rd High Individual), Blake Bruns, Benjamin Archer, Kyla Mennen, and Emerson Tarr

4th Overall Team, Hill Contest

  • High team (goats), 2nd (cattle), 4th (swine), 2nd (reasons)

Dairy Cattle Judging Team Competes in Fort Worth

On January 14, the KSU Dairy Cattle Judging Team competed in the Southwest Intercollegiate Dairy Judging Contest held in Fort Worth, Texas.
