Academic Quadrathlon

2024 Animal Sciences Academic Quadrathlon

Students, faculty, and staff gathered at the KSU Alumni Center last Thursday evening for the final events, meal, and presentation of awards for the 2024 Animal Sciences Academic Quadrathlon. Thank you to the continued generosity of Joseph Ebert, who is the event sponsor and has been a Spokesman for the event for 20 years. Seventeen teams totaling 68 students competed.

 “Eat Cats, Go Beef” (Team 13), consisting of Anna Ideus, Audrey Tarochione, Sierra Collier, and Sydney Rohlman, was the champion overall team and will represent K-State at the Midwest American Society of Animal Science Academic Quadrathlon competition in Madison, Wisconsin March 10-11, 2024.

Special thanks as well to event chairs Dr. Nicholas Dias, Dr. Tim Rozell, and Dr. David Grieger as well as Dr. Jessie Vipham, IT support from Tim Carson, special assistance from graduate students Dani Stock, Elizabeth Dressler, Linnea Rimmer, Sidney Munk, and Cassia Gruis and past AQ champions Macie Weigand and Jessica Smallfield as well as the many, many faculty, staff, and graduate students who managed lab practicum stations, served as first-round oral presentation judges, graded the written exam, and helped organize and run the event in various ways. Your time and work toward making the AQ a success for our students is valued.

Departmental News – February 27, 2024

  • Department Update: Encourage your students to attend the Department Update taking place on Tuesday, March 5 at 4:30 p.m. in Weber Arena. This will be an opportunity for students to hear from Dr. Cassie Jones, #KSUASI Teaching Coordinator, and Kathy Huser, Student Services Coordinator, about the #KSUASI curriculum updates and building renovation plans.
  • 94th Annual Little American Royal Showmanship Contest:

    The Little American Royal Executive Team would like to invite you to participate in the 2024 Little American Royal held in the historical Weber Arena on April 6th. There will be two divisions, experienced for if you have shown the species before, and novice, for if you have not shown the species before. The species eligible to be shown are beef cattle, dairy cattle, horses, sheep, goats, and swine. The entry fee for the first animal is $25, and that will get you breakfast and a t-shirt. For every additional animal, it will be an extra $15. Sign-ups are taking place outside Weber 123 from Monday, February 26th through Friday, March 8th.  Sign-up will not occur on March, 1 (Cattlemen’s Day).
