LIVESTOCK JUDGING TEAM

The K-State Livestock Judging Team completed its season Nov. 13, with a 7th place overall finish at the 118th National Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest in Louisville, Kentucky. An amazingly competitive day was highlighted by team member Brody Nemecek being named the contest Reserve High Individual Overall.

Brody and teammate Weston Schrader were named to the 10-member All-American team for their combination of contest success, academic standing, campus involvement and industry leadership. That brings K-State’s All-American total to a record 46 since the award was established in 2000.

In attendance at the banquet was the 1983 K-State squad, including team member Dr. Scott Schaake, as they and coach Dr. Bill Able were recognized as the 40-year anniversary championship team.

MEAT JUDGING TEAM TO RAFFLE OFF RIBEYE ROLLS. The Kansas State Meat Judging Team is once again selling raffle tickets ($10) for ribeye rolls to help support the team’s travel costs in the upcoming year. The raffle will be conducted the week of December 11th and the winners will have the option of having the meat cut to their specifications. If you are interested in buying tickets, please contact a member of the Meat Judging Team, Travis O’Quinn, or email meatscience@ksu.edu

FALL UNDERGRADUATE SYMPOSIUM: As the semester winds down, we are quickly approaching the Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium! Please plan to join us on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 9 am – noon at the Town Hall in Leadership Studies.  Students will be presenting posters on both course-based research projects and independent research projects. Coffee and donuts will be provided!

ASI CLOTHES DRIVE: The Department will be collecting gently used coats and hoodies and new hats, gloves and socks for communities in need. Donations can be dropped off in Weber 134 or Call Hall 139 until December 1.
