5th Annual National Strategic Selling Institute Benefit Auction to be held April 28

By Dawn Deeter-Schmelz

Our NSSI students are busy preparing for the upcoming NSSI Benefit Auction, which takes place on April 28, 2017 beginning at 6:00 pm in the beautiful College of Business building atrium. The theme of this year’s auction is “A Putt in the Right Direction: A Benefit Auction like No Other” – students will be recreating a day at a major golf tournament. In addition to the live and silent auctions led by The Canny Team of Johnson, Kansas, the event will feature mini-golf and casino games, dinner by Wahoo Fire & Ice Grill, and visits from Stan Weber and Willie the Wildcat. Top items for auction include a football helmet signed by Bill Snyder, Masters Tournament memorabilia, and a K-State-themed quilt. This fun-filled event raises money for NSSI Sales Student merit awards; additionally, a raffle for a K-State-themed golf car will raise funds for “Coming Together for a Cure,” a non-profit organization started by K-State student Blake Benton.

NSSI Auction

The NSSI Benefit Auction allows our Advanced Selling students to learn about territory management, prospecting, phone sales, customer relationship management, and the sales process in a real-world setting. Students work toward a monetary quota as well as an activity quota, and class meetings are run like sales team meetings. Realistic experiences such as the NSSI Benefit Auction and the Advanced Selling class allow our students to hit the ground running once hired. In fact, research has shown that students graduating from university sales programs tend to stay in their first sales job longer and produce more revenue faster than their peers who have not graduated from these programs. The NSSI provides students with an outstanding sales education and businesses with outstanding sales recruits; as a result, our students enjoy a 100% placement rate.

If you would like to support our students in their efforts, several opportunities for getting involved exist.
