Advanced Selling Students Host Second NSSI Benefit Auction

On Friday, April 25, 2014, the 36 students enrolled in the NSSI Advanced Selling class hosted the second National Strategic Selling Institute’s Benefit Auction.  Held at the Wareham Opera House in Manhattan, the auction represented the culmination of the students’ learning and efforts.

 The auction was tremendous fun and featured the auctioneering talents of Michelle Canny and the Canny Team, along with Stan Weber as emcee. Cadence, the K-State a cappella group, provided musical entertainment, and Coco Bolo’s served a fantastic meal. Highlights of the evening included a beautiful purple and white quilt made by student Brittany Joerg’s mother – it generated quite a bidding frenzy!  Other popular items included tickets to K-State, Kansas City Royals, and Kansas City Chiefs events.  Of course, the absolute high point of the evening was the fiddle playing of our own Sales Cat Team member Jake Pritchard, who brought down the house with his rendition of Charlie Daniels’ “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”.

David Andrus Retires from K-State


After serving the College of Business Administration with distinction for 31 years, David Andrus, marketing professor, has decided to retire.

Andrus earned his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University, his master’s degree from the University of Hawaii, and his doctorate from the University of Iowa. He was a visiting professor at the University of Iowa in the area of marketing prior to his arrival at K-State in 1983. During his K-State career, Andrus served as an exemplary professor and administrator. He was head of the marketing department for 11 years, served as assistant dean for graduate programs for two years, and was appointed the college’s first director of research in 2012. National Strategic Selling Institute remains one of the nation’s top sales programs

For the third consecutive year, the National Strategic Selling Institute at Kansas State University’s College of Business Administration has been named one of the top sales programs in the country by the Sales Education Foundation.

“We are so excited to be named to the list of the Top Universities in Sales for the third year in a row,” said Dawn Deeter, the J.J. Marketing students’ entrepreneurship idea wins award from K-State’s Launch

A Kansas State University competition has rewarded 38 students and 16 business ideas with more than $20,000 in prize money.

The K-State Launch competition gives students experience in the process of making a business proposal. In total, 365 students registered for the competition this year, making it the sixth straight year of record entries. Crow awarded Edgerley Outstanding Instructor Fellowship


Janis Crow, marketing instructor, is a recipient of the College of Business Administration Edgerley Outstanding Instructor Fellowship.  Based on a recommendation of the Edgerley Instructor Fellowship Award Committee, Dr., Crow will hold the Edgerley Outstanding Instructor Fellowship for academic years 2014-2015 and 2015-2016.   Continue reading “Crow awarded Edgerley Outstanding Instructor Fellowship”
