KSU Blood Drive Updates – Spring 2020

Our KSU drive is still happening – with some changes being made to location!  Attached is a poster with the new locations!

We will be at The Holiday Inn at The Campus (across from the Union) & at Rally House!!  Please, help us spread the word about this change!! WE NEED YOUR HELP!!  I realize that you may not have many (if any) club members who can volunteer, but we’re going to make do with what we can.

Please let me know if you think your club will still be participating!  Here is a google doc for volunteers to sign up whenever they’re available.   https://docs.google.com/document/d/1e-_6Nk4XvpkeOGW9q_ij6Pnuw4GvJ3cGdx3Fwox7-_c/edit

These are uncertain times, but one thing IS certain – cancer patients will still need blood, premature babies, will still need blood, those in car accidents, will still need blood.  It’s important that blood IS on the shelf.  So, if you’re healthy – PLEASE DONATE!!!

The ARC is putting MANY measures in place to ensure that our drives are a SAFE location for people to give their life saving blood.

As blood drives are canceled due to coronavirus concerns, the American Red Cross strongly urges healthy individuals to give blood to help patients in need. We understand why people may be hesitant to come out for a blood drive, but want to reassure the public that we are taking additional precautions to ensure the safety of our donors and staff:

  • We are checking the temperature of staff and donors before entering a drive to make sure they are healthy.
  • We have hand sanitizer for use before entering the drive, as well as throughout the donation process.
  • We are spacing beds, where possible, to follow social distancing practices between blood donors.
  • Red Cross employees follow strict safety procedures, including:
    • Wearing gloves and changing them often; wiping down all donor-touched surfaces and equipment; and preparing the arm for donation with an aseptic scrub.

If you have any questions, please contact Kristi Ingalls by email (kristi.ingalls@redcross.org) or by phone ((316) 641-3972).
