The Kansas State University College of Engineering recognizes successful alumni in the midst of their professional careers and accomplishments.  The head of each department in the College of Engineering and fellow alumni nominate graduates based on superior career achievement during the first 20 years after graduation from K-State.  The dean’s selection is determined by professional success, service to society and promise of continued success in his or her career.

Tak-Kei Chan, Hong Kong, is a 1990 graduate of Kansas State University in electrical engineering; M.S. 1992.  He is the senior vice president at International Rectifier, a pioneer and world leader in advanced power management technology.  In this role he manages a global manufacturing organization with more than 1800 employees in six different countries, and an annual budget of more than $200 million.  Since he graduated in 1992, he has worked for several global semiconductor companies in the U.S., Japan, Taiwan and Singapore.

John Miller, Olathe, Kansas, is a 1994 graduate of Kansas State University in computer engineering. He is the chief technology officer at Accelerated Vision, Overland Park, where he also manages engineering and IT. In his role, he heads up technology direction and selection, manages the hardware and software development and procures the necessary IT infrastructure for the company. During his career he has earned several awards for outstanding performance and has grown from an engineer into an experienced “C” level executive, serving in several management positions. He has led solution, delivery and support for several companies during his career with one patent and several patents currently under consideration.
