New Faculty Feature: Blain Pearson

Blain Pearson, Ph.D., CFP®, joined the Department of Personal Financial Planning at Kansas State University full-time in the fall of 2020. He is excited to be a part of the well-established and highly regarded Personal Financial Planning program and looks forward to teaching and working with students this fall.

Prior to joining the department, Blain was an instructor and a doctoral student in the Department of Personal Financial Planning at Texas Tech University, where he taught a variety of personal financial planning courses. His doctoral research focused on retirement adequacy and opportunities for retirees to improve their retirement experience.

During the Fall term, Blain will teach sections of PFP 105 – Introduction to Personal Finance and PFP 456 – Financial Counseling and Communication. During the spring term, he is expected to teach sections of PFP 105 – Introduction to Personal Finance, PFP 320 – Behavioral Finance, and PFP 595 – Capstone in Personal Financial Planning.

Blain holds his BBA and MBA from Campbell University, his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University, is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and has multiple years of financial planning industry experience.

When Blain isn’t teaching or pursuing his passion of developing the next generation of financial planners, he enjoys traveling, playing the banjo, and hiking with Rory, his 4-year old German Shepard.
