4-H Supporter’s Picnic

Temperatures are rising and our 4-H calendars are filling up now that the County Fair is only three weeks away. Our 4-H members are putting the finishing touches on projects that they have created this year and working with their livestock daily to get them ready to show. The County Fair is a time for 4-H’ers to showcase their experiences and demonstrate mastery of a subject. We know that these experiences would not be possible without the help of community volunteers and 4-H supporters.

Tuesday, July 17th is the annual 4-H Supporter’s Picnic. The picnic, held at Athletic Park in Newton, is the Harvey County 4-H program’s way of saying ‘thank you’ to everyone who makes our program possible. The picnic brings together 4-H clubs from across the county, families, staff, and most importantly, the volunteers and supports of Harvey County 4-H. The picnic meal is provided by 4-H families, which always includes delicious homemade ice-cream.

After the picnic, the 4-H Clothing and Construction project members put on a fashion revue show for picnic attendees. The 4-H members showcase their sewing construction and buymanship projects and are awarded ribbons for their entries.

After a night of food, friends and a fashion show, you will find us cooling off at the Newton pool for a swim party. Our 4-H program would not be possible without the continued support of community members, and this is our way of saying thank you!
