Congratulations to Elizabeth!

We had a 4-Her do an amazing thing last month! Kansas State University puts on a Fashion Runway show through their Apparel and Textiles & Interior Design program.

Most of the Fashion Runway, is college students showcasing their garments from the school year, but high school students can enter their projects as well. Elizabeth Esch, entered two different garments and both were selected! She did not get to model the outfits, but her outfits were still on stage!

On April 13th, I went to see her garments on the runway. She made two beautiful pieces. The first piece is a dress with a lace top. It has a sweetheart neckline and a small keyhole on the back. The other was a two piece high wasted swimsuit! Both were very in style for this year and very complicated for a 16 year old to make on her own!

The 4-H Clothing and Textiles project is a great project for children to be creative and make things they actually wear! When I was in the project (many year ago) I made coats, dresses, skirts and much more! Our 4-Her’s are learned how to mend their clothes, make their own garments based on their size, piece together different patterns, learn through trial and error, think creatively and much more!

Elizabeth is a talented young adult and her passion will take her far! Good job Elizabeth!
