April is national Stress Awareness month. Whether you are one to hide from stress or embrace it, stress if a fact of life. This is a great time to think about how your stress affects everyone in the family- both adults and youth. Stress generated by an approaching deadline or the need to get the grass mowed before it rains can be a motivating factor. Little Green Thumbs
Last year my niece and nephew helped me plant a flower bed in my backyard. They were excited to help dig up holes and carefully tuck flowers into the bed. They happily helped with watering every time they came over. The pride that they had in “their” flowers that they planted was priceless. Seven of my ten nieces and nephews live nearby, which means that this year, I’m planning an even bigger flower bed!

Clovers or Shamrocks
St. Patrick’s day is coming up, which means that stores are full of green shamrock decorations, or as I see them- green clovers. I enjoy looking at all of these seasonal decorations; sparkly clovers, banners and even clover-shaped glasses. For me, this clover has a different meaning than the celebration of St. Patrick.

Harvey County 4-H Ambassadors
Last weekend I loaded up our Extension van with sleeping bags, pillows, suitcases, and pencils. Three of our 4-H Ambassadors and I headed to Rock Springs 4-H Center for a weekend of learning and friendship. When: Friday, March 31, at 4 p.m., through Saturday, April 1, 4 p.m.
Where: Kansas 4-H Cosmosphere
Who: Youth ages 9-18. All youth must have a designated chaperone to attend (can be parent, grandparent, relative, guardian)
