This semester was the kickoff of a brand-new annual event series for the department: World of Wines. This event series consisted of four events over the course of three days, including a four-course meal with wine pairings at Harry’s Restaurant, a sushi dinner with wine pairings, and two different workshops with tastings, all led by Master Sommelier, Mr. Frank Kaemmer, who joined us from Germany.
The hope for World of Wines was to raise awareness of the hospitality management program across campus and among the community. Proceeds from ticket sales went toward our Graduate Student and Study Abroad programs.
Attendees included K-State students and faculty as well as members of the Manhattan community. We are very pleased with the success of the events thanks to a special group of students and faculty that helped to pull them off.
Throughout the week, attendees sampled Sake, Champagne, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, multiple Rieslings, and more. Guests also had the pleasure of tasting Monkfish, Smoked Trout, Chicken & Shiitake, Roasted Herb Crusted Striploin, and nine different types of sushi. Additionally, the sushi was freshly rolled by one of our very own graduate students! We were all very pleased with the success of the events thanks to a special group of students and faculty that helped to pull them off.
We are looking forward to next year’s World of Wines series. Don’t miss out!
