Three entrepreneurs join lecture series

The Hospitality Management Program’s third annual entrepreneur lecture series features three outstanding entrepreneurs from various areas of the hospitality industry.  The second sponsor is the Center for the Advancement of Entrepreneurship, College of Business.

All the public lectures are at 4:30 p.m. in Justin Hall room 109. Please join us if you can!

Dennis Hulsing, president and CEO, Hulsing Enterprises, LLC

Hulsing will present on Oct. 10. Hulsing Enterprises, Asheville, NC, owns and operates or affiliates with more than 20  businesses, including hotels, fitness facilities, medical companies, and residential properties.  His hotel properties are in Asheville, NC; Johnson City, TN; Bristol, VA; Lawrence, KS; Manhattan, KS; Greensboro NC; and Kansas City, MO.  He serves on the Hospitality Management Advisory Board.

Danny O’Neill, president and owner, The Roasterie

Since starting started The Roasterie in November 1993 in the basement of his home in Kansas City’s Brookside neighborhood, Danny O’Neill has become a sought-after expert in the ever-growing coffee industry.  He has judged cupping and barista competitions around the world.  In April 2001, he was awarded Super Taster status on the Specialty Coffee Institute Sensory Aptitude Test.  He is a past President of the Specialty Coffee Association of America and serves on a number of advisory boards for local companies and associations. He speaks on Oct. 24.

John Ross Harmon, owner, John Ross & Co. Signature Catering

John Ross Harmon, a K-State hospitality management graduate, will lecture on Nov. 14. He started his own catering company in 2010 at the age of 27.  Today he has a 35-foot trailer with cooking supplies and equipment and he takes his passion for cooking on the road.  He specializes in weddings, rehearsal dinners, company meetings, and other events.  He has catered events from 25 to 500 people—and he makes everything from scratch.
