Welcome to the 2018 Department of Hospitality Management fall newsletter. The department had a busy fall semester and the holidays are only a few days away. In this newsletter, we highlight some of the great things that happened this fall 2018 in the hospitality management department:
- the inaugural World of Wines event
- the third annual Hospitality Summit
- recent student successes and student spotlights
- recent alumni success
At the beginning of this month, we graduated 13 seniors, most of whom have secured employment or who have made plans to continue their education. We are excited to see what these students will take into the hospitality field and we look forward to working with them as alumni!
Planning for the spring semester is currently underway. The planning for our largest event of the year, the Travel and Dining Auction, is well underway with Nancy Hansen King at the helm. She has a great group of students who are excited to organize you a fun evening in March. I invite you to save the date and hope that you will be able to join us in Manhattan for a special night where we raise funds to support our students.
Our team has continued to grow and mold over the past year. We welcomed Mary Cross as the new administrative assistant to the department. Mary brings years of experience to our program and we are happy to have her on board. We are also in the process of hiring a new assistant/associate professor and instructor for the program. The goal would be to have both people in place by the fall of 2019. Stay tuned to learn more about these new additions to our program.
As always, we thank you for your continued support of the Department of Hospitality Management.
