Throughout the month of October, the kinesiology department in conjunction with the Kinesiology Student Association (KSA) hosted a series of events to celebrate Exercise is Medicine on Campus (EIM-OC) month.
EIM-OC month started with the signing of a proclamation by President Richard Myers declaring October to be Exercise is Medicine on Campus month at K-State. Throughout the month, the kinesiology department and KSA hosted free health assessments, Yoga workouts, and a campus walk with health and fitness-related prizes for students, faculty and staff. The month concluded with a public lecture in Forum Hall titled “Exercise to improve chemotherapy efficacy: Evidence in mice and men” by Dr. Keri Schadler, a renowned cancer researcher.
In acknowledgement of the month-long efforts to promote the benefits of physical activity on campus, K-State was recognized as a Silver level campus by the American College of Sports Medicine’s EIM-OC committee.
