Go into the world and do well.
But more importantly, go into the world and do good.
Minor Meyers

This spring we sent another class of community developers, planners and landscape architects out into the world and we know they will do well. If they follow in the footsteps of our alumni, they are certain to also make a positive impact wherever their careers take them.

In this newsletter you will read of an inspiring new scholarship created by Ray Willis, MRCP ’71, that promises to expand opportunities for minority students. We are grateful that Ray is committed to helping rising planners to do good as he has in his career as a director for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Also, above you will find work from the landscape architecture summer studio. The studio supported the White House initiative ‘Strong Cities, Strong Communities’ by working on vacant properties and blight in the City of Saint Louis. The students gained first hand experience making a positive impact with their ideas.

You can have an immediate positive impact on the landscape architecture program by participating in the annual DesignIntelligence survey. Your support of the K-State Master of Landscape Architecture program in this survey will have a direct and meaningful impact on our program’s continued prominence in national rankings. More information on the survey is available here and the survey is available here.

This will be an exciting semester as construction begins on the Seaton Hall enhancements and expansion. We are taking plenty of pictures of our move from Seaton Hall to our temporary studios at APDesign West to share with you in our Winter newsletter. In the meantime, you can keep up with us on Twitter @KStateLARCP and through the Landscape Architecture and Regional & Community Planning LinkedIn group.
