Kansas State University has been selected as a COVID-19 closed point vaccine distribution site. This means the university will be receiving and administering vaccines exclusively for students, faculty and staff based on the state and local priority groups and vaccine availability.
K-State has not received vaccines yet or been given a vaccine delivery date. The university is actively preparing for distribution so that vaccines can be administered as soon as possible when they are available.
All current faculty, staff and students were sent an email on Monday, February 1, from Lafene Health Center. The email included a link with directions for completing a survey about the COVID-19 vaccine. Individuals were asked to go to the myLafene+ patient portal, sign in and go to Survey Forms.
Individuals who did not receive the email are asked to contact Lafene Health Center at lafene@k-state.edu with their Wildcat ID and eID. The subject line should be COVID Vaccination Request.
Completing the survey will assist K-State and local health officials in identifying how many people are in each priority group and will help communicate with individuals once they are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. The university has established a comprehensive plan based on state and local priority groups.
Individuals are encouraged to complete the COVID-19 vaccine survey with Lafene Health Center AND through their resident county as available. Individuals should complete the vaccination sequence through the organization that contacts them first.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment Is allocating the vaccine in the state of Kansas. The university and county health department vaccine phases are aligned. The university must follow the phase timeline for the county.
Lafene Health Center has increased their asymptomatic COVID-19 testing sites by offering remote testing clinics Tuesday through Friday at places like Kramer Dining Center, Derby Dining Center, the Chester E. Peters Recreation Complex, and the Union. Lafene’s onsite asymptomatic clinic is open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. and we continue to test individuals who are symptomatic or have been identified as a close contact. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Lafene has provided almost 20,000 tests.
Students continue to be encouraged to wear a face covering, stay six feet apart and avoid crowds, and wash their hands often.
More information about the COVID-19 vaccine and a list of frequently asked questions can be found on the K-State COVID-19 vaccine information website.
