U.S.-China Center for Animal Health Newsletter

Summer Greetings!

Warm greetings from Kansas!!! While you are relaxing on your vacation or at home, please take a moment to enjoy our e-newsletter and learn the progress of veterinary education collaboration between Kansas State University and our partners in the U.S. and China.

Currently, there are 16 Chinese students admitted into the U.S-China Joint DVM Program. The program is sponsored by the China Scholarship Council, Kansas State University, Zoetis and the Chinese Veterinary Medical Association, and it has been led by the U.S.-China Center for Animal Health (USCCAH) at K-State since its establishment in 2012. Of the 16 students, 12 of them will be freshmen (6), sophomores (2) or juniors (4) in the DVM programs at the University of Minnesota, Kansas State University, or Iowa State University; while the other 4 students will be pre-veterinary students at Kansas State University this fall.

Last October, the USCCAH partnered with the Chinese Veterinary Medical Association and Zoetis to host an International Symposium on Veterinary Education in China. At that meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed by Zoetis, Kansas State University and the Chinese Veterinary Medical Association to confirm our commitment to continue working together to make the U.S.-China Joint DVM Program bigger and better!

The mission of the USCCAH is to promote U.S.-China education and research exchange and cooperation in animal health, public health, food safety and other important social and economic areas. Our partnerships with universities, government, and animal health industry in both countries are essential for the center to help our stakeholders. We also want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your tremendous support and interest in working with us. If you would like to make contribution to the education programs or have interest in animal health in China, please contact Dr. Lei Wang at leiwang@vet.k-state.edu
