2025 National Festival of Breads

National Festival of BreadsWhen it’s cold outside, what a better way to warm up your home with some freshly made bread! Get creative and submit your original recipe to the National Festival of Breads in 2025.

Entries are now being accepted until January 16, 2025. The categories include quick breads and yeast breads. This contest if for adult amateur bakers only. See the 2025 Official Rules & Regulations for all details and how to enter.

2023 National Festival of Breads

The finalists have been chosen! The 2023 National Festival of Breads will be a virtual event On June 1, 2023 to announce the next top bread baker.

You can help select the winner by voting for the People’s Choice Award on the National Festival of Breads Facebook page by May 26, 2023.

There are also 23 Honorable Mention awards from the preliminary judging in four categories of Say Cheese, Wholesome and Healthy, Quick and Easy, and Go Nuts!

 

2023 National Festival of Breads

National Festival of BreadsThe 2023 National Festival of Breads is going virtual! This is a yeast bread competition for adult amateur bakers. So start your mixers and get baking!

Four categories for this year’s contest include Quick and Easy, Wholesome and Healthy, Go Nuts, and Say Cheese. Recipes must be original, which means never published in the same or substantially the same form. Recipes must state the brand and type of flour along with the brand and type of yeast. It must contain at least 75% wheat flour and produce one or more loaves or one dozen or more rolls.

Contest entry begins at 12:00AM CST on January 1, 2023 and ends at 11:59:59 PM CST on February 13, 2023. Refer to the 2023 Official Rules and Regulations for all details.

 

2021 National Festival of Breads—Recap

National Festival of BreadsThe 2021 National Festival of Breads was held virtually this year. But that did not diminish the excitement of this event!

Over 300 recipes were submitted and on June 9, 2021, the winner was announced. You can watch the announcement video at https://nfb2021.com/.

The Best of Breads winner was Savory Thai Peanut Sauce Rolls by Anakkarat Barth. The People’s Choice award, from Facebook voters, was Strawberry Lemonade Swirls by Maggie Sleichter, who was in the youth category.

2019 National Festival of Breads

Save the date! The 2019 National Festival of Breads will be held on June 8, 2019 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Manhattan, KS.

This year, the contest will feature two categories. One is designated for food bloggers who are actively blog about wheat foods and yeast bread. The second category is for home bakers. A new feature this year will be LIVE judging! Come watch the judging process, hear the comments from judges, and find out who wins!

This event will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, Manhattan, KS, on June 17, 2017. In lieu of an entry fee, please bring a non-perishable food to support the Flint Hills Breadbasket.

Start the day by participating in the Inaugural Enrich Your Life 5K & 1 Mile fun run. Then stay and learn about bread, taste some BBQ, and much more!

Chocolate Swirl Loaves

Lots of baking has been taking place at the Wheat Innovation Center to select the top finalists for the 2017 National Festival of Breads! Mark your calendar now for June 17, 2017 to come and enjoy the festival in Manhattan, KS at the Hilton Garden Inn.

New this year is the Enrich Your Life 5K & 1 mile Fun Run. A portion of the event proceeds will be donated to the Flint Hills Breadbasket.

Admission to the festival is free with a donation of a canned or nonperishable food item. These donations will also go to the Flint Hills Breadbasket.
