New Director of Graduate Studies and NASPAA Accreditation

Brianne Heidbreder

We are excited to announce that Brianne Heidbreder has accepted the position of Director of Graduate Studies. She will lead the Masters in Public Administration and MA in political science graduate programs in that capacity.

Kansas State University’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) program has earned reaccreditation by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA).

The program was notified July 30 that NASPAA’s accrediting Commission, the Commission on Peer Review and Accreditation (COPRA), found the program to be in substantial conformance with NASPAA Standards. NASPAA’s accreditation process, driven by public service values, is mission and outcomes-based. NASPAA accreditation is considered the quality benchmark of graduate public service programs. It provides a peer review quality assurance process for graduate-level, master’s degree programs in public policy, affairs, and administration. The K-State MPA program has been accredited by NASPAA/COPRA since 1990. Kudos to Dr. Jim Franke and the MPA faculty for all their contributions to the reaccreditation process!

Dr. Brianne Heidbreder, Director of the MPA program, states that “we are proud of NASPAA’s continued accreditation of our program. It speaks to the quality of our faculty, students, and alumni.” The MPA degree at K-State prepares students to serve the public interest and establish themselves as civic leaders. The program emphasizes a theoretically informed and research driven skills based approach to learning. It is designed to equip students for the challenges of work in the public and non-profit sectors.
