Progress on the 2025 Mission

A department update by Dr. Kris Boone

The Department of Communications and Agricultural Education is exceeding its goal on increased student numbers based on its K-State 2025 plan.

We’ve experienced a 13 percent increase in student numbers, thanks to recruitment by friends, alumni, students, our faculty and the College of Agriculture. In addition, we have focused recruitment on underrepresented students and have had some success in this, but it an area of need.

Students Present at ACE, Win Top Research Paper Awards

Undergraduate and graduate students represented the Department of Communications and Agricultural Education at the 2015 Association for Communication Excellence (ACE) conference in Charleston, South Carolina. Nine students presented research papers, posters and workshop activities, ranging from revamping educational videos in YouTube to determining the organizational identity of K-State Research and Extension.

FFA Convention and CDE’s

The College of Agriculture welcomed members of the Kansas FFA Association to campus for state career development events (CDE) and 2015 Annual FFA Convention. Kansas State University hosts  the Kansas FFA Association’s state CDEs and convention, and welcomes more than 1,500 FFA members to campus each year.11658_163690388902_4279328_n

David Holliday Receives 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award

David Holliday received the 2015 College of Agriculture Distinguished Alumnus Award on May 2 for his commitment to agriculture, his community, Kansas State University, and contributions to society through education.

Kansas State Students Gain Experience Through Internships

When summer comes around, the average college student thinks about hanging out with friends and sleeping in until the early afternoon. This is not the case for three ACJ students. These students want to gain knowledge and a competitive edge in the market place after graduation.

Congratulations to our Graduates!

After three to five years of figuring out what major to declare, what courses to take, trying to decide what you might want to do with your life and making life-long friends, K-Stater’s head out into the world to start their careers. Many students are coming to the end of their undergraduate careers here, and as a result, must take what they’ve learned and put it to use in the next stage of their life. Some students will be jumping right into full-time jobs, while others will be going to graduate school.

One Theatrical ACJ Student
