Dr. Jason Warner is the new Extension Cow-Calf Specialist and assistant professor in the Kansas State University Department of Animal Sciences and Industry. Warner’s objective is to help support the mission of the land grant system by serving people through extension and research as part of the K-State beef extension team.
Warner earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Since earning his doctorate in 2015, Warner has worked as a livestock consultant providing service across all segments of beef cattle production and to allied industries.
“Jason comes to ASI with training from University of Nebraska in cow-calf nutrition, reproduction and production systems management and extension programming experience,” says Dr. Mike Day, K-State ASI department head. “We are excited to add Jason’s background and expertise to our beef cattle team in ASI to provide cutting edge extension education and advance knowledge in cattle management through research.”
Warner grew up assisting with his family’s farming and cow-calf operations in southwest Nebraska. He was active in 4-H and FFA programs. While at UNL, he was a member of the livestock judging and meat animal evaluation teams.
Jason says his focus at K-State is to help provide leadership for state extension beef programming efforts, disseminate information to the industry, collaborate with allied industry personnel and stakeholders, conduct applied cow-calf systems research, and serve as a point of resource for area specialists and county extension agents.
Jason and his wife, Danielle, have two young sons — Beau and Woodrow. The family resides near St. George.
