Victaulic Sales Competition highlights university’s Sales Week

Three Kansas State University students earned cash prizes at the recent Victaulic Sales Competition, a part of the fourth annual K-State Sales Week hosted by the National Strategic Selling Institute in the College of Business Administration.

Forty-eight students took part in the competition, testing their selling skills in a role-playing scenario as a Victaulic Sales representative. Their objective was to convince a prospect contractor, played by an actual Victaulic Sales rep, to purchase one of the company’s products. National Strategic Selling Institute hosts 3rd annual benefit auction

For the third year running, the students of the Advanced Sales class, in conjunction with Pi Sigma Epsilon, our sales and marketing business fraternity, are hosting the National Strategic Selling Institute Benefit Auction.  Fifty percent of the net proceeds of the auction fund the NSSI Sales Cup Merit Awards for our Sales Certificate students; this year we will award $5000 to students who have earned performance points through their classes and participation in sales competitions, networking events, workshops, and other NSSI-sponsored events. The Department of Marketing continues to build strong partnerships through Corporate Partnership Program

The Marketing Advisory Council provides an essential link with both the business community and our alumni. Study abroad tour to China gives students a global outlook on business

Nine students in K-State’s College of Business Administration traveled to China to gain a better understanding of the global business world as part of a faculty-led study abroad program.

Where is Dave Andrus now?

In May of 2014, David Andrus, professor and former department head of the Department of Marketing, decided it was time to retire and pursue other activities. Andrus and his wife, Lynda, chose the beautiful mountain town of Castle Rock, CO as the place to build their retirement home. Living in Castle Rock makes it convenient for David and Lynda to visit their son in Lone Tree and their daughter in Castle Pines.  Andrus is still a vital member of the Marketing Department as the instructor of on-line sections of Marketing Research and Marketing Management. Save the Date!! – Advanced Sales Class hosts 3rd Annual NSSI Benefit Auction Saturday, April 25, 2015

For the third year, the students of the NSSI Advanced Sales Class will be hosting the NSSI Benefit Auction.  Held at the Houston Street Ballroom on April 25, 2015 from 5:30 to +/-9:00 p.m., the auction will be a semi-formal affair featuring fine-dining with food from Coco Bolo’s, musical entertainment, and the auction services of The Canny Team of Johnson, Kansas. Stan Weber, a K-State favorite, will be serving as emcee, and Willie the Wildcat may stop by for a visit.

New software gives sales students a leg up on the competition

Thanks to new software in the sales labs of the Kansas State University College of Business Administration’s National Strategic Selling Institute, or NSSI, students pursuing a certificate in professional strategic selling now have an edge when meeting with potential employers.

Interact Software from CenergyIT allows students to record themselves during mock sales calls, to get a better understanding of how they are performing in sales situations. Leawood student takes home top prize at RBI National Sales Challenge

Helen Dinkel, a Kansas State University junior in marketing from Leawood, won the Overall Champion Award at the 2014 RBI National Sales Challenge at William Paterson University, Wayne, New Jersey.

The competition, which took place over three days, saw more than 80 students from 42 different colleges from around North America and Europe compete for the top prize. Study abroad opportunity gives students in the College of Business Administration a global outlook on business

Janda receives $5,000 Iman Award for research and teaching

Swinder Janda, professor of marketing, received a $5,000 award in recognition of his outstanding research and teaching at a ceremony on October 30, 2014 at the K-State Alumni Center.  Introduced in 2007, the annual Dr. Ron and Rae Iman Outstanding Faculty Awards are sponsored by the K-State Alumni Association and are made possible through the generosity of Ron and Rae Iman.
