Family Center Update

The K-State Family Center served over 300 new individuals, couples, families in 2018. Currently, we have a diverse clientele of almost 500 open cases. Our sliding fee scale allows us to serve those who may not have resources to seek therapy elsewhere. Our students see clients in fifteen placement sites including the vet school, Fort Riley, four local schools, and community mental health agencies. We also facilitated groups for sexual assault survivors, children of adoption, anxiety, trauma, and chronic illness.

During the Fall of 2018 the Family Center received a new handicap accessible water fountain complete with water bottle filling port. In Spring of 2019, the adolescent and play therapy rooms were organized and received materials such as new sand and relocation of craft supplies to a more accessible location. The Kumbaya room was also updated in that shelves were cleared so that pictures of past cohorts and faculty might be proudly displayed.
