The U.S. Small Business Administration will celebrate the accomplishments of veteran, service member and military spouse small business owners nationwide during National Veterans Small Business Week, Nov. 5-9. We wanted to join in on the conversation. Today we’ll be telling you a little bit more about K. Luke Wendt. Want to learn more about Luke?
Luke is a senior Entrepreneurship major here at K-State and he is also a student veteran. Here’s what Luke had to say:
“I pursued entrepreneurship because I understand that the vast majority of multi-millionaires are small business owners. I believe we are only afforded one life and I have no intention to spend anymore time working for the man than I have to. Entrepreneurship is a risky field of study but certainly provides opportunities that the other business degrees don’t have. I am trying to solve the mysteries of life and I certainly can’t do that until I attain a strong degree of financial security.”
Luke served in the Army Reserves for nine years. During that time he completed a 15-month deployment to Iraq as a Motor Transport Operator (protecting convoys). During his time in the military, he had a lot of long days and would use them as an opportunity to reflect on himself. He began to weigh his options on what the most lucrative career path would be, which led him toward the desire to operate his own business empire one day.
Luke graduates from Kansas State University with a major in Entrepreneurship in December of 2018. He told us that his favorite course was taught by Dave Dreiling in 2014. He mentioned that it was truly inspiring to see a local businessman do so well.
Luke also shared with us a quote that he has had on his social media for years now and we wanted to pass that quote along to you below.
