The College of Health and Human Sciences Rising Professional Award honors the significant contributions made by recent graduates. Recipients have demonstrated significant professional accomplishments through publications, professional organizations or programs and have made efforts to improve the health and well-being of the community.
We were proud to recognize four Rising Professionals from FSHS in April 2019.
From Personal Financial Planning we recognized a 2004 graduate, Jamie Bosse. Jamie finds it extremely rewarding to see people organize their financial lives, maximize their human capital, and get closer to their life goals. Jamie enjoys writing financial articles and has been featured in the Kansas City Star, KC Parent, The Journal of Financial Planning, The Register, Solutions, and Investment Advisor Magazine.
She is also the author of the popular children’s book, Milton: The Money Saavy Dog.
From Human Development and Science and Couple and Family Therapy we recognized a 2010 HDFS and 2013 CFT graduate, Dr. Kale Monk, an Assistant Professor and a State Specialist for Extension at the University of Missouri. Dr. Monk is interested in how key relational processes are developed, maintained, and become unstable for couples, as well as the implications of these processes on their mental health. GHis research has been featured in the New York Post, USA Today, TIME, Science Daily, Men’s Health, Huffington Post, and the Wall Street Journal. Monk’s recent co-edited book in this area, Relationship Maintenance: Theory, Process, and Context, is due to be published in 2020 through Cambridge University Press.
Also from Human Development and Family Science we recognized a 2015 graduate, Trent Jones. Trent double minored in Leadership Studies and Conflict Analysis & Trauma Studies and was involved in many campus clubs and began working part-time at the Boys & Girls Club of Manhattan (BGC). Trent served as the BGC unit director at Wamego to lead the after-school program he started as a student and has since moved into the Boys & Girls Club of Manhattan Executive Director role.
From Couple and Family Therapy we recognized a 2011 graduate, Dr. C. J. Aducci. Dr. Aducci has been employed with the Chickasaw Nation Department of Family Services since 2011, where he currently serves as the Executive Officer of Strong Family Development. In this role, he provides executive leadership of mental health and substance use treatment programs available to Chickasaw citizens, other Native Americans, and Chickasaw Nation employees.
