Department moves Online with the MS Degree

We are excited to announce that starting in fall 2020, the Department will offer the master’s degree program in hospitality administration online. Prospective students can complete their advanced degree program 100% online with asynchronous (students can review lessons when it is convenient) yet highly engaging learning modules.

“This program is best suited for students who seek to advance their career or explore a new career in the hospitality industry without moving to Manhattan or leaving their current position,” explained Junehee Kwon, Graduate Program Director.  She noted that earning a master’s degree may not yield immediately higher earnings in the industry but may change trajectory of career advancement. “Earning a master’s degree opens a new opportunity for post-secondary education for those who have extensive hospitality industry experience”, Kwon added.

The online master’s program requires 30 credit hours with thesis research or 36 credit hours with course-only option. The time to degree may vary based on the load a student is willing to take. Typically, it takes four regular (fall or spring) semesters to complete. However, the time to degree may be reduced if a student takes summer courses and/or take heavier course loads during regular semesters. Each class is designed to promote higher-level problem-based and analytical skill development, which will prepare graduates for current and future challenges in various segments of the hospitality industry.
