2020 K-State Family of the Year Applications Open

Jane Dodge Works 2019 Family of the Year

The annual K-State Family of the Year award recognizes a family that has shown great dedication to the Kansas State community and the Wildcat Family. The K-State Family of the Year is chosen on the basis of their current and past affiliation with the university, and demonstration of their “K-State Pride” and support for the K-State Family. In 2019, the Jane Dodge Works Family was recognized as the K-State Family of the Year. The Jane Dodge Works family has been dedicated to K-State for over 152 years, beginning with Jane’s grandmother, who attended Kansas State Agricultural College in 1867. For six generations, each member has made it a point to share their “K-State Way” with all they encounter.

As stated in their application:

“A family is defined by a group of people who genuinely love, trust, care about, and look out for each other; who share common beliefs, values, and traditions. Family members help and support each other to realize and fulfill their potential and dreams. Blood makes you related, but loyalty makes you family.”

Selected by a committee, the Family of the Year is hosted for special activities during K-State Family Day. The recognition is sponsored by Chimes Junior Honorary. The selected family will come to Manhattan, KS on September 12, 2020 to celebrate with Chimes Junior Honorary members before being recognized on the field as the “K-State Fan of the Game” during the 2020 Family Day football game against North Dakota. Applications can be found here, and applicants can choose to either nominate their own family, or nominate a family they are not a part of. Applications are due April 26th, 2020 at 11:59pm. If you have any questions regarding the application or K-State Family of the Year, please contact Janie Failor at failojg@ksu.edu.
