Lafene Health Center and Counseling Services have joined services

Lafene Health Center and Counseling Services have joined services.  Under this new organizational structure, the opportunity to enhance services for our students and campus community will grow exponentially.  Counseling Services has also been renamed Lafene Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), or Lafene CAPS, to better identify service offerings. caps

Lafene CAPS is a student service on campus providing therapy and mental health counseling to students, and consultation/education to the K-State community to enhance student success.  Enrolled students may receive up to eight individual therapy sessions per semester at no charge.

Lafene CAPS is offering several groups and workshops in the upcoming semester.  Some of the specialized groups include Understanding Self and Others for undergraduates and graduate/non-traditional students, as well as a Men’s Engagement group and Spectrum for individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQ community.  Skills and support-type groups include Taming Your Anxious Mind, Calming the Storm, and Living with Loss.  All groups meet in person for one and a half hours each week.  There is no cost to participate in groups.  Group therapy is the preferred therapy option for students wanting to learn coping skills or better understand how they relate to and impact others.

Workshops are being held online this semester and each are three sessions long.  Some of the workshop offerings include Getting Unstuck, Reset and Thrive, and Date Yourself.

Students who are interested in participating in groups or workshops should call Lafene CAPS at 785-532-6927.  For more information about specific groups and workshops, go to the Lafene CAPS website.
