As is customary, graduates, faculty, former faculty and friends of K-State gather for a meal together at the Joint Statistics Meetings. Last year’s meeting in Seattle was no exception as nearly 40 of us gathered to eat, reminisce, meet folks we don’t overlap with at K-State, and share stories. The accompanying picture was taken at our restaurant.
You may be aware of the fact that Ron Wasserstein, who serves as the Executive Director of the American Statistical Association, is a K-State grad. So after the dinner, we have had a standing invitation to join him and his family in their suite in the convention hotel for more visiting and informal time. Below is a picture taken from Ron’s suite at last year’s gathering.
There will be another such gathering at this summer’s JSM in Chicago. The dinner is always on Monday evening – that will be August 1st this year. A sign-up sheet can be found in the communications area of the meeting venue, and will be posted by Saturday evening, with instructions on where we will be dining on Monday, as well as where and when to meet to head out for dinner. If you can’t join us for dinner, you are still invited to the Wasserstein suite afterwards for conversation, libations, and fellowship.
