Revisit the “silenced” voices of woman directors in films by Dorothy Davenport, Lois Weber and Mabel Normand. Davenport’s melodrama Linda (1929) follows a young woman from a forced marriage to her discovery of true love. The short Suspense (1913) by Lois Weber chronicles a pre-Hitchcockian style home invasion, while Mabel Normand directs Charlie Chaplin in the comedic Mabel’s Strange Predicament (1914).
