Celebrating Art and Week of the Young Child Display
April 4-9, 2023, open hours, MHK Play Studio

Join us for an exhibition of art by students in USD 383 Early Learning and State Center for Child Development programs, and a family gallery search, art activities, and free books and resources. This year’s special theme is Families in conjunction with the exhibition Unspoken Bonds.
Co-sponsored by USD 383 Early Learning Centers, K-State Institute for Early Childhood Education and Research, K-State Center for Child Development, Kansas Child Care Training Opportunities Inc., ieDiscoveries/MHK Play Studio?Kodo Kids, Kansas Association for the Education of Young Children.

Classes and Workshops

The Museum hosts a variety of classes and workshops throughout the year for all ages!

Family workshop by Beach Museum of Art

ARTSmart Classes
Explore the Elements of Art. Each class includes looking activities in the galleries and an art project. Classes meet on select Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 (ages 2-5) and 4:30 (all ages).
Next class: December 7 & 8 – Color

Family workshop at the Beach Museum of ArtHomeschool Tuesdays meet on the first Tuesday of the month and include additional academic content. Tours are appropriate for those in Kindergarten on up and include an art project.
Next class: December 6, 1-2:30 Color, weather and poetry 

Cost for classes is $3 per child, Military Family/Blue Star discount $1.50, and reservations are required. Payment can be made with cash or check. Call (785)532-7718 or email klwalk@ksu.edu for reservations. Children must be accompanied by an adult. If you need to cancel your reservation please let us know so we can call those on the waiting list.

Special price for Military Families: In conjunction with the Blue Star Museum program, the Beach Museum of Art offers Military Family half price on all workshops and classes!

Artist’s Voice Deep Dive Clubs exhibition

Join us in celebrating the work of young artists from Eisenhower Middle School, Manhattan Boys and Girls Club and Ogden 5th grade. Inspired by the Gordon Parks and Doug Barrett exhibitions.

Family workshop: Young artists find inspiration from work in the Beach Museum of Art.

ARTSmart Classes: Each class includes looking activities and an art project. Classes are held on the first Wednesday and Thursday of the month at 10:30 a.m. (ages 2-5) and 4:30 p.m. (all ages).

  • Next class: February 2 & 3 – Colorful Acrylics

Homeschool Tuesdays meet on the first Tuesday of the month and allows Homeschool families to investigate the current special exhibitions with curriculum integration. Tours are appropriate for those in Kindergarten on up and include an art project.

  • Next class: February 1, 1-2:30 p.m.: Paleolithic Handaxes (art and archaeology). Come think like an archaeologist!

Join us in celebrating the work of the district’s students and their teachers, on display in the UMB Theatre. Sponsored by the Manhattan-Ogden Public Schools Foundation.

This year’s theme is “Game On,” and there will be gallery games to help you explore the spring exhibitions.
