The Financial Planning Association student group at Kansas State has been very active during the 2017-2018 school year. It is crazy that the school year is almost over! The group is run by president Nolan Keim, senior, vice president Abby Pope, junior, treasurer Landon Warmund, junior, secretary Jack Giardino, junior, and faculty advisors Roxanne Martens and Dr. Martin Seay. The group of roughly 22 active members share the common goal of expanding our knowledge of the financial services industry to become the best helpers we can be.
Here is a short update of what we have been up to this school year. During the fall semester, FPA hosted an intern panel where current students answered questions regarding their summer experiences. In September, students from FPA K-State traveled to Kansas City to attend a career day sponsored by FPA of Greater Kansas City. This was a great opportunity for students to network and learn about possible employment opportunities.
This spring has been extremely busy for the organization. We are currently planning our annual philanthropy event. This year, we will be hosting our second annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament to raise food and money for the Cats’ Cupboard, an on-campus food pantry.
Throughout the course of the school year, we have had the great privilege to host and learn from six industry superstars. They have spoken on various topics including behavioral finance, industry overviews, entrepreneurship in financial planning, among others. We cannot thank these individuals enough for taking the time to invest in the next generation.
It has been a great year for the Financial Planning Chapter, here at Kansas State. As the school year is wrapping up, FPA members are set to travel across world for full-time jobs, summer internships, and study abroad programs. We are excited about what are future’s might have in store for us in the best profession out there.
FPA K-State is always looking for more ways to get industry professionals and alumni involved! If you would like more information about FPA K-State email Nolan Keim or faculty advisor, Roxanne Martens.
