The Friends of The Gardens are individuals, business firms or groups who have contributed financial support, in-kind gifts or volunteer services to The Gardens. Throughout K-State’s history, there have always been individuals who have supported The Gardens. Then a group of individuals who had worked for years on the Gala Fundraiser for The Gardens, decided to establish an official Friends of The Gardens at Kansas State University. In 2006, a 21-member Board of Directors for the Friends of The Gardens was established, along with a Constitution and By-laws, with each board member serving a 3-year term.
The mission of the Friends of The Gardens is “to promote and support the university gardens through volunteerism and by providing resources beyond the scope of Kansas State University that will enhance and enrich the mission of The Gardens.”
Funds raised for The Gardens are used to assist in adding garden areas and increasing its visibility as a gateway to campus. The Friends have helped with garden development, funding student interns and ongoing maintenance of The Gardens.
