K-State Research and Extension is accepting applications for a District Director to serve the Post Rock District. The director will serve as the administrative leader of the district’s extension programmi and communities across Kansas.ng giving leadership to budget and fiscal operations, personnel management of local staff, and overall program development and delivery.

Additionally, the professional will have Extension Agent responsibilities, as the district’s 4-H Youth Development Agent. Extension agents are professional educators who serve as a link between Kansas State University

4-H is a community of young people across Kansas engaged in learning leadership, citizenship, and life skills. Caring adults who support our programs are essential for youth to achieve their potential. Adults can share guidance, knowledge and wisdom, as well as model respect and provide skills training. The mission of the Better Brains for Babies initiative is to improve the potential of young children by promoting the use of early brain development research in everyday life experiences. Better Brains for Babies is a collaboration of national, state and local, public and private organizations dedicated to promoting awareness and education about the importance of early brain development in the healthy growth and development of infants and young children. The initiative began in Georgia, and has become available to Kansas professionals through a partnership between University of Georgia Extension and K-State Research and Extension.

Train-the-trainer participants will learn about brain development, adult-child interactions, toxic stress, and other elements of young child development. After completing the training, attendees will be eligible to disseminate information on early brain development throughout their communities. The Better Brains for Babies curriculum is a tool which provides a clear and consistent science-based message about the impact of early brain development on children’s overall growth and development. Upcoming Facilitation Training

The Extension Master Community Facilitator program helps equip Kansans to assist local communities with community vitalization and develop efforts. Volunteers trained in the art of facilitation are skilled at hosting effective meeting, have the ability to assist with strategic planning, and lead conversations related to identify critical issues.

If you like organizing, engaging people, and feel there is a better way; then becoming an Extension Master Facilitator Volunteer may be for you. Grant Writing Workshop

Individuals and community groups can learn more about writing successful grant proposals at a workshop planned in Beloit on October 23rd.  The workshop is presented by Nancy Daniels, a community vitality specialist with K-State Research and Extension and the author of many grant proposals.  The training will be at NCK Technical College from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and includes lunch.  The cost to attend is $25.
